| Although
Salisbury has a cathedral, it is more akin to a large market town
than a city. As such has limited commercial and grant making
trust opportunities. The community, although relatively prosperous,
is said to have been "fished many times."
Like many
other general hospitals Salisbury Health Care NHS Trust had a variety
of capital and annual funding needs, an active League of Friends
and a plethora of ward funds, independent charities and departmental
funding initiatives.
Sandcliff was appointed
to develop a coordinated fundraising strategy then recruit, train
and support a fundraising director. In the event, the sterling
efforts of the Trust, the fundraiser and Sandcliff:
- built excellent media relations and a positive dialogue with
the community;
- achieved this with a single manager and assistant.
Annual fundraising
initiatives and stakeholder partnerships remain a strategic objective
at Salisbury Health Care NHS Trust. This bedrock will provide
a solid platform for a series of new capital funding projects.
"In the past
two years we have learned a great deal. We have had some frustrations,
but overall have established an effective fundraising mechanism
that has already raised £600,000 towards a target of £1m.
We have also raised the profile of the Trust in a way that will
almost certainly produce benefits in the months and years ahead."
